A new bar and grill is opening where the Crow’s Nest and Betty’s Runway Lounge once were at Broadway and MacArthur.
Mike and Ellen Henderson are opening Whiskey and Boots Bar and Grill with a grand opening on Jan. 16 and a soft opening before that.
“We’ve changed the look of this bar a lot on the inside,” Mike Henderson says. “We’ve changed it all.”
He’s in a band called Misfire Country, which will play at Whiskey and Boots every other weekend. Other local bands will play on alternating weekends.

“We’re gearing more toward the older country and older rock,” Ellen Henderson says.
She says that’s because Old Town and other areas have music “all more geared towards … the younger crowd.”
Henderson says she and her husband hope to attract people of all ages.
“We love to support local talent.”
There likely will be a karaoke night, too.
Henderson says she and her husband will serve a variety of grill items, such as a KC strip, open-faced hot roast beef sandwiches and Rocky Mountain oysters, “so not your typical bar food.”
“We have got an awesome menu, actually.”
The grill will be open for lunch and dinner and have carry-out meals.
Henderson says she’s worked as a waitress and bartender before, but mostly she and her husband have had administrative positions. She says they’ve always wanted their own business, though.
“This is something that we were looking at for a long time.”
