The Sedgwick County Democratic Party is moving to new headquarters this week.
For the past year, the group has been at 2911 E. Douglas, which is just west of Hillside.
“It was a coordinated campaign office,” says chairwoman Terese Shumaker Johnson. “It was great space and great training space.”
Several campaigns operated out of the office.
“It’s more than we need to function for the next year or so,” Johnson says. “It was a lot of space.”
Now the party is moving to 111 S. Hydraulic, which is a block off of Douglas and not far from where the office is now.
“We wanted to stay central,” Johnson says.
Before being on East Douglas, the party was at 555 N. Woodlawn. Johnson says that office was in the downstairs of a building and was not especially visible nor easy to get to.
“We wanted to be more visible,” she says. “We need to be accessible to everybody.”
Johnson says the party will move late this month “and continue working on the 2015 election.”
