Buck’s Bar & Grill closes after half a year
UPDATED – Chris Schroeder had to be persuaded to discuss Buck’s Bar & Grill earlier this year when he was opening the restaurant, but there’s apparently no persuading him to discuss it now that he’s closing it.
Schroeder stayed on the phone long enough to confirm that the restaurant at Ninth and West is closing after about half a year in business.
“Yes, ma’am.”
He humored one more question when asked why.
“Various reasons.”
That was it, though. When prompted to explain if the restaurant didn’t work out, Schroeder either hung up or had phone trouble that caused a disconnection.
Schroeder, who retired after a career in electrical engineering, had never been in the restaurant business before.
In January, he explained his rationale for opening one.
“A frickin’ hole in the head right now.”
At the time, Schroeder was gutting the building and said he was exhausted.
Buck’s replaced Cleats Sports Bar & Grill, which also had a short-lived existence. Shenanigans was in the space before that.
