On the heels of the announcement that Skin Essentials will expand at Aspen Plaza, James and Monica Smits have landed another store to completely fill their center at Douglas and Oliver.
Lola Boutique, a women’s apparel shop currently at 916 E. Douglas in Old Town, is taking 1,500 square feet.
“We are ecstatic to have the opportunity to move to one of the most prestigious shopping areas in Wichita,” says Shawna Waggoner, who owns the 3-year-old shop with her daughter, Addison Buck.
Waggoner says visibility is one of the big attractions at the center. The store, which also sells purses and jewelry, will be bigger, too.

“We will have more space, which will allow us to expand our clothing lines,” she says.
Parking is another attraction at the center.
“That was one of the main reasons why we wanted to go over there,” Buck says.
James Smits, who also owns Aspen Boutique with his wife, says Lola Boutique will open in February following remodeling that’s involved with the Skin Essentials expansion. He says Lola Boutique is the kind of complement to the center that he’s been seeking.
Buck says everything about the move will be an improvement for the store.
“We’re just ready to expand … our presentation to a new level.”
