After a soft opening that has provided a couple of weeks to get ready, the new Walton’s store is ready for a Saturday grand opening at NewMarket Square.
“To have a store in a high-traffic type area is an exciting thing for us,” says CEO and president Brett Walton. “It’s our first store outside of our building.”
The almost 30-year-old business, which sells items related to meat processing, moved to a 50,000-square-foot warehouse at 3639 N. Comotara a few years ago. The Walton family decided to open a retail area in 5,000 square feet of it.
In addition to meat processing items, the store also sells grills and grilling utensils.

Walton says the store has far exceeded the family’s expectations.
He says most customers have come from the east side, so the family decided to see how sales would do on the west side.
The new 4,000-square-foot store is between Cold Stone Creamery and GNC.
Walton says sales have been going well so far.
Saturday’s festivities, which will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., will include grilling demonstrations, a grill giveaway and manufacturers representatives who will display smokers, sauces and seasonings.
“We’ll have a lot of different products to sample,” Walton says.
He says the whole venture is “a fun thing for us.”
