In late September, right around the time The Eagle reported a couple of people were opening the Office Bar & Lounge in the former Alibi Room downtown, those people got out of the business.
“It never even had a chance to open,” says Marc Humsi, who’s reopening the Old Town business at 919 E. Douglas on Friday night.
He’s also a co-owner of District Taqueria next door.
Humsi says he’s always been in the restaurant and bar industry, so owning his own makes sense.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do.”
He says he already has plenty of challenges running a restaurant, but he figures since the Office is next door and won’t serve food, it shouldn’t be too much extra work.
Humsi is making some changes at the bar, which he says will focus on whiskey and bourbon drinks.
Also, he says, “We’re getting an actual sign, which is something the place has never had before.”
Humsi is keeping the pool and ping pong tables that are already in the business because he says they seem popular.
Though he doesn’t plan any crossover between the Office and the Taqueria, Humsi says, “Down the line, it’s something we might take a look at.”
The Office could be the closest Humsi ever gets to a traditional office.
“I couldn’t see myself behind a desk all day long.”
