U-Haul buys building to replace store near Kellogg and West Street
When U-Haul had to move its store near Kellogg and West Street a few months ago to make room for a new highway interchange, it took temporary space at 1000 E. 13th St.
Now, the company owns the 53,700-square-foot building, which is a few blocks west of the Canal Route.
“This replaces their main facility at Kellogg and West,” says Don Arnold of John T. Arnold Associates, who handled the deal.
“Once they moved into the building, they decided it could work as a permanent location.”
U-Haul will offer rentals from the site and moving and packing material.
“They’re also going to offer storage,” Arnold says.
“I believe … the reason they like this particular location is the ease of access from the highway system and the visibility from the highway.”
Arnold says U-Haul will do some remodeling at the building and place permanent signs there. For now, there’s still a temporary banner out front.
