Charles Koch has already been announced as the featured speaker for the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting on Nov. 2, but what hasn’t been revealed is that he’s not going to be alone on stage.
Joining the chairman and CEO of Wichita-based Koch Industries won’t be bodyguards or other billionaire native son Phil Ruffin but a couple of well-known national television personalities.
Koch will be interviewed on stage by MSNBC “Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, who also will broadcast their show from Wichita the next morning.
“It was really their suggestion to stay,” says Chamber chairman Jon Rosell. He says it’s a great opportunity “to truly showcase our Wichita community and the many, many exciting things happening.”

As much as Rosell says he’s thrilled to have Koch speak, he says he’s equally excited about the show the following morning and the opportunity to spotlight Wichita.
Capacity for the Chamber program, which follows a dinner, is 4,800 people. For ticket details, go to www.wichitachamber.org/AnnualMeeting.
What hasn’t been announced yet is where in Wichita “Morning Joe” will be broadcasting.
Community partners for the next-day show are Wichita State University, the Greater Wichita Partnership and Visit Wichita.
Rosell says there are a lot of people working together with a lot to promote.
“There’s a tremendous amount of momentum. There’s a giddiness, I think.”
