One of Wichita’s more eclectic businesses is now closing.

The last day in business for Vortex Souvenir in Delano is July 15.

Stamp Yo Face! owners Kevin Wildt and Hannah Scott started the business in 2017 as a stationery and gift shop with a particular focus on art and design.

They tried a few different sites around the city but settled in Delano in 2021.

When asked about closing, Wildt said he’s going to let his Instagram message stand for now.

That message simply said the store is closing July 15 with no explanation of why.

At the time Vortex moved to its colorful purple spot by Delano’s clock tower, Wildt had begun describing the store as an art and gift shop with an emphasis on independent artists, mostly from around the United States with some international artists, too.

He’d also jokingly begun calling the store Vortex 3.0 since it was the shop’s third home in four years.

There’s no word on whether a Vortex 4.0 could happen one day.
