Is this business a coffee bar? Vintage shop? Art house? Yep, all that and more.

American Saints is a new business opening Saturday in Old Town at 142 N. Mead, and it’ll have a variety of offerings, including a coffee bar and vintage items.

To say that the new American Saints store opening in Old Town is eclectic does not quite capture everything that Destiny Slane and a group of other retailers are going to offer.

The space at 142 N. Mead will be home to another Bloom Coffee bar. The first one is in Maize and another one is coming to Valley Center.

There also will be eight retailers plus Slane offering vintage clothing and other items, such as bags, shoes and cameras.

A variety of photo options will be available as well, including a photography studio that photographers can rent plus a photo booth.

Slane said the booths are particularly popular with young girls who travel to cities all over, head straight to booths and then share their strips of pictures (like the ones once popular at malls) to share via social media.

“It’s pretty popular right now on TikTok,” Slane said. “It’s crazy, honestly, how big it’s gotten.”

There will be rugs by a custom designer, and a couple of artists’ works will be on display as well. Slane said she may add others over time, but not immediately.

“Right now I’m just focusing on building relationships with people who are taking a leap with me.”

Slane took part of her inspiration for the American Saints name from some favorite songs by favorite artists of hers.

It may be hard to understand for some, but a lot of young girls like traveling and immediately finding a photo booth like this one in the new American Saints to take pictures and post them to TikTok.

The store will open on Saturday.

Regular hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday to Sunday, though Bloom won’t be open on Sundays.

The space will be open by appointment Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and customers can rent the photography studio by appointment, too.

Slane said she’s carefully curated what American Saints offers, including getting some fun basics for the store, such as rotating a rack from a dry cleaner to showcase clothing.

She had considered calling her vintage clothing line the American Saint, but Slane said she made American Saints plural to emphasize the other vendors who will be joining her.

“I just wanted it to be more so a community atmosphere.”
