This deal isn’t finalized, but the restaurant already has pulled a building permit

Wingstop is continuing its march across Wichita with another new restaurant, this time at NewMarket Square.

A Slawson Cos. representative confirmed the Dallas wings chain is interested in the former Interstate Batteries space between Sport Clips and J.Rae’s, though he said there’s not a done deal yet.

Apparently Wingstop is counting on the deal happening because it’s already pulled a $365,000 building permit for the approximately 1,500-square-foot space.

Wingstop representatives didn’t return calls for comment.

The chain serves traditional bone-in and boneless chicken along with chicken tenders with a variety of sauces and seasonings and side dishes, such as freshly cut fries.

It first opened in Wichita in 2014. There are now four Wingstops open and a fifth at 29th North and Rock Road that is opening shortly.

Levi Iseman with InSite Real Estate Group handled both the NewMarket and Rock Road deals.

Look for the NewMarket Wingstop to open possibly by the end of 2026 — assuming the deal eventually gets finalized.
