‘This little slice of west-side heaven’ will be something of a Clifton Square
Devin Vrana has moved her LightHouse Chiropractic to a former A-frame church near Central and Tyler, but that’s hardly all she has planned for the two acres there.
She said “this little slice of west-side heaven” at 720 N. Westlink will give her room to create something of a west-side Clifton Square.
That’s the shopping and dining center that the late Jo Zakas started 55 years ago at 3700 E. Douglas. She continued to add houses to the property to create the center over the decades.
“The model of Clifton Square is such an inspiration,” Vrana said. “It was revolutionary for what it created in one little piece of real estate. There really isn’t anything like that on the west side.”
She said her property is filled with beautiful trees and that she can picture families enjoying spending time there.
Vrana and her husband and fellow chiropractor, Joey, have the Colwich Collective in Colwich, which has grown into a kind of wellness center with various offerings.
They’ll have a similar concept at the new west-side property, but with even more offerings.
Starting in May, there will be a monthly farmers market, and Vrana also will host breath-work classes in conjunction with outdoor community acupuncture.
“We’ll be able to really stretch our legs and play out there,” Vrana said. “There’s just a power of healing that happens in community. . . . The healing effect, in my experience, is exponential.”
Joey Vrana still has his Vrana Chiropractic & Acupuncture in Goddard.
At the LightHouse Chiropractic, Devin Vrana specializes in treating babies and pregnant mothers.
Downstairs at the former church, Vrana is creating a coworking space for other practitioners to rent.
Vrana said she envisions potential counselors or people who offer aesthetic services using the space.
“The foundation of LightHouse is anything that helps light up body, mind and soul.”
In addition to taking inspiration from Clifton Square, Vrana said she’s visited places such as Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia in Waco for ideas.
“We’ve been gathering little pieces of inspiration for the last five years waiting for the right property to come up.”
She said she likes the idea of people shopping, playing and having healthy bites to eat in a sort of small-town atmosphere.
Vrana called her LightHouse compound “a dream come true.”
She said she wants the coworking space and whatever else she brings to the property to “just be a collective of people who have a similar heartbeat for making the world a brighter place.”
