What does shopping in Aspen, Houston and Wichita have in common? This one store.

High-end boutiques in Wichita don’t necessarily have a lot in common with shops in Aspen, the resort town in Colorado, or probably even Houston, but it soon will have one of the same stores as both.

Keele Loyd is opening the Little Bird, her third women’s luxury consignment store, at Waterfront Plaza by the Whole Foods Market at the northwest corner of 13th and Webb Road.

The resale shop is taking the former Pink Saloon/Assembly 19 Clothing Boutique space.

“The best compliment we get is sometimes people don’t know we’re a consignment shop,” Loyd said.

She’d been living in Colorado for 26 years and opened her first Little Bird in 2007 before expanding with a store in Houston in 2011.

Since June 2024, Loyd has been living in Andover because she has family in the area, including her parents.

Like her other stores, Loyd said the new one will have handbags and shoes — her top sellers — new and used jewelry and a range of women’s clothing from denim to dresses.

“It’s not real formal,” Loyd said. “It really speaks to how women dress daily.”

The brands Little Bird carries vary from day to day, but there is couture such as Chanel, Dior, Gucci and Louis Vuitton.

Still, Loyd said, “We want to have a price point that everyone can shop.”

Similarly, she tries to carry a variety of sizes as well.

“We are able to accommodate most sizes.”

Loyd said her stores are more of “a brick and mortar experience” instead of having a lot of online sales.

Products turn over quickly, and Loyd also will move her merchandise among the stores.

Little Bird has what Loyd called a curated look. Potential consignors can e-mail photos of what they’d like to sell and then either bring in the items or have them picked up.

Loyd said she’ll walk consignors through her brand guidelines.

“We just try to make the best decision on what our client will buy.”

Loyd said she lets consignors review prices and ask any questions before items go to the sales floor.

Typically, a consignor will get 50% of a sale and receive a check once a month for items.

For more information, the store can be reached at consign@thelittlebirdinc.com.

Loyd hopes to open near the end of April and will share more information and a first look at the new store then.

Don Piros of Landmark Commercial Real Estate handled the deal for the space.

“I am very excited to be in this community and meet the women who are part of this community,” Loyd said.

She said her grandmother used to work at the Henry’s department store.

“This is very full circle for me to have an opportunity to have a boutique here.”
