What do you do when the universe gives you a push? You make a leap.
Yoga has been said to help with stress management and anxiety relief, and Amy Waliczek may be a walking example of that.
When her Yoga Central rent went up, Waliczek knew it wouldn’t be feasible to remain in her space near Central and Woodlawn.
Even though she describes it as a little scary and a bit challenging to think about moving, especially to the larger space she found close by, Waliczek came to peace with it by deciding “this is kind of the universe giving me a push just to have an opportunity for new growth.”
In early May, she’s moving her business to 6130 E. Central, which is just west of Woodlawn in the center next to Wichita Brewing Co.
The new site’s 3,000 square feet will allow Waliczek to expand with more offerings and more people who rent from her at the business.
There will be group and individual yoga classes, meditation classes and a yoga therapist.
There also will be several massage therapists, including a Thai massage therapist.
Yoga Central has been in Wichita for more than two decades. Waliczek and a partner bought it about a decade ago, and she’s owned it on her own for a couple of years now.
Though any change is hard, Waliczek said she’s choosing to view it as exciting as it is challenging.
She said she’s been overwhelmed by the support she’s received, especially from other women who own businesses.
One recommended her for an article about her move. Another donated some supplies. Others she’s worked for in the past have congratulated her.
“That type of support is amazing,” she said. “I feel a lot of gratitude.”
Waliczek said she suffered a bit of an imposter syndrome for a while, but she’s come around.
“You know what?” she decided, “I can do this.”
