Bradley Fair loses another national retailer; NewMarket Square is set to as well
Just as the national Francesca’s chain is closing its stores, including the one at Wichita’s Bradley Fair, so, too, is Eddie Bauer.
According to multiple sources, the national clothing and accessory chain appears set to file bankruptcy for the third time and take its business entirely online.
There’s been an Eddie Bauer store at Bradley Fair and an Eddie Bauer outlet in NewMarket Square.
At one time, there were two Eddie Bauer stores at Bradley Fair, including a sportswear store and a home store.
The home store closed about 20 years ago.
The sportswear store is now closed.
There’s no closing date set yet for the outlet store.
A lot has changed in the more than 30 years since Eddie Bauer opened at Bradley Fair. When it opened in 1994, it was one of the early tenants at the new lifestyle center.
There already had been a lot of Eddie Bauer catalog customers in the Wichita area, an Eagle article at the time said.
The article also said shoppers were so excited for the Eddie Bauer store, they started knocking on its door even before its July opening date.
