Spencer of SB Mowing asks: Why just mow when you can mow it forward?

Last we checked with Spencer of SB Mowing, who regularly mows and tidies people’s lawns and property for free — and has almost 60 million people who follow along online — he saved a stray cat he found and ended up financially saving an entire Texas cat sanctuary in the process.

Since then, Spencer (who doesn’t share his last name for privacy reasons) also has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for a Wichita woman who couldn’t pay a fine over her yard.

The list of people and places the young Wichita man has helped continues to grow, and now he’s making it official with a new nonprofit called SB Mow It Forward.

“I thought this would be a good way to do it,” he said of having an official place for people to support various causes.

“I wanted something where I can do more than mowing.”

Spencer said he has a two-part mission.

The first part of the mission is to “just kind of help people where they need a hand.”

That could be people he meets at properties who might need ramps or other help at their houses or maybe people who need assistance paying for trash service instead of letting it pile up in or around their houses.

“Things like that that I come across.”

His second mission is to help young entrepreneurs wanting to be in the lawn care industry.

“I want to help kids and teenagers run a business,” Spencer said.

That could be helping them with software or equipment.

Spencer started the process of forming the nonprofit in the spring, and now he has a 501(c)(3) status.

Spencer said it’s just the start of what he hopes to accomplish in coming years.

“I definitely wanted to keep it a little bit broad so we could do a lot with it.”
