Even before the Vintage Stock store at Towne West Square was told it had to move, it already had signed a new lease at NewMarket Square, at 21st and Maize Road.

“It seems like foot traffic and business up there is really going to be better,” said Patrick Crockett, who manages the Towne East Square Vintage Stock.

The Missouri chain sells new and used movies, video and other games, music, comics, books, toys and sports collectibles, which includes trading cards.

Or, as Crockett put it, “nerdy, collectible and fun” items.

The company first opened a Wichita store in 2015 at Towne East followed by one at Towne West in 2016.

“Foot traffic and business just obviously slowed down,” Crockett said of other tenants leaving Towne West.

Now, the former mall is being turned into a business center, and remaining tenants were forced to leave this summer.

Crockett said the NewMarket store, which will be between Ross Dress for Less and Petco, should open around Nov. 15.
