How much is that puppy in the window? Pretty cheap, along with the rest of the store

The east-side Petland store is going out of business.

The store, which is in the same development as the Walmart Supercenter at Kellogg and Greenwich, is going out of business because the owner is retiring.

A manager, who preferred not to be named, said the owner is retiring after two decades of having the store.

Though the last day in business is scheduled to be Aug. 4, the store may close earlier if everything gets sold before then.

There are steep discounts on all items in the store — for instance, puppies are 40% off — so there’s a chance the store could close earlier.

The Petland in west Wichita will remain open.

The manager said if by chance there are any puppies or other animals — such as rabbits, hamsters, hermit crabs, guinea pigs and birds — left when the store closes, they likely will be relocated to the west store.
