Ice, ice baby: A new Old Town jewelry shop is opening within two other businesses
A new jewelry store called the Ice Gallery is coming to Old Town late this summer.
Ice refers to diamonds, but owner Bryce Hartung said he’ll sell a variety of jewelry and watches at a variety of price points.
Hartung is the operations manager of Afterlife Tattooz, Jewelry, and Ink Supply, which opened in 2022 at 111 N. Mosley where First Gear once was.
That’s the tattoo shop that opened and only then discovered it was operating in violation of the unified zoning code that didn’t allow tattoo parlors or piercing studios in the area.
A change to the city’s zoning code followed to allow the business to continue operating.
The Fire Flame Smoke Shop also is in the space. It and the tattoo shop are downstairs, and the Ice Gallery will be upstairs.
Hartung said it makes sense to have all three businesses together.
“It’s all, like, in the same area of expertise,” he said.
The businesses often have the same kinds of customers, such as rappers, Hartung said.
His shop will be by appointment only.
“When you do appointment only, you have a more personal connection with a client,” Hartung said.
People who spend big money “want to feel prioritized,” he said. “We’re going to try to cater to those high-end clients.”
Hartung will offer in-house appraisals, custom jewelry, high-end watches direct from factories and those with after-market additions.
There will be an online gallery closer to the Ice Gallery’s opening. Hartung said to keep an eye on @icegalleryict and @brycewithice on Instagram for more information.
Look for a tour of a the new shop later this summer. Hartung said it will be something to see “right there in the heart of the city.”
