Catastrophic fire changes timing for two east-side Wichita businesses to renovate, expand

Before a catastrophic June 8 fire unexpectedly affected things, the owners of Beau Monde Spa & Boutique and their sister business, Aesthetic Solutions, had big plans for the two businesses at Comotara Center, at 29th North and Rock Road.

Then came an early-morning fire in one of Beau Monde’s dryers, which wasn’t on.

“They just thought it was a flukey thing,” said co-owner Tina Sholl.

“Both businesses wanted to expand and were already in the works of that prior to this disaster happening,” she said.

The owners have signed a letter of intent to move Aesthetic Solutions within Comotara Center where it can have more space than it previously had.

This also then frees Beau Monde to expand into the former Aesthetic Solutions space.

“They’re anticipating that it will take us about six months to get rebuilt since it’s a total loss,” Sholl said.

In the meantime, both businesses will move to temporary space outside of Comotara before eventually returning there.

Along with the rebuilding and expansions, Sholl said both businesses will have new services when they reopen at Comotara.
