Finally, at least part of an answer to what’s happening at the old Beards gas station

It seems all of Wichita has been wondering what’s going on at the former Beards gas and service station in the Normandie shopping center. Now, there’s at least a partial answer.

For weeks, the big question in business has been what happened to the former Beards gas station and repair shop in the Normandie shopping center at Central and Woodlawn?

The previous owner of the shop wasn’t talking, and the new buyer — which appeared to be the owners of the Jump Start chain — didn’t return numerous calls either.

Well, the deal officially closed Wednesday, and Jump Start is in fact the new owner.

Johnathan Weigand and Christi Royse of J.P. Weigand & Sons handled the deal.

There’s another lingering question, however: Will this be a typical Jump Start gas station?

From what it sounds like, this will be a smaller version than what the Wichita chain typically offers.

There’s talk that something of a coffee shop may be involved, though that’s not for certain.

Beards had been at the corner for decades and, while it still served gas, it was the last station in the city to offer full service. It then became a repair shop only.

Look for more information on Jump Start as soon as it’s available.
