On Feb. 28, The Eagle reported that Towne West Square was on the verge of selling.

As it turns out, apparently that’s the day the sale officially closed.

That’s according to a letter tenants were sent on Friday.

In the letter, the owner is listed as Wichita Kellogg LLC., which is registered in Delaware.

According to the letter, IRG Realty Advisors in Ohio is managing the property, and that’s where tenants have to make lease payments.

No one with IRG could immediately be reached for comment around lunchtime Thursday.

An Ohio-based lawyer who also is listed in the letter — all legal notices from tenants have to be sent to IRG and copied to him — said he couldn’t share information about Wichita Kellogg LLC.

Former Towne West owner Mike Kohan, managing member of New York-based Kohan Retail Investment Group., previously said, “I’m working on a deal.” That was on Feb. 28.

Thursday, Kohan answered his phone but said he couldn’t talk because he was on a Zoom call. He did not respond to a follow-up text.

An already-struggling Towne West faced mounting issues under Kohan’s ownership. A steady stream of tenants left the mall, which also had issues keeping its power on.

The new owners are seeking rezoning for industrial uses at the property for potential new kinds of businesses to locate there.

However, it doesn’t sound like current tenants are losing their leases, so the rezoning request likely is to allow for a mixed-use development there.

Kohan previously said that over the years, he’d already sold some of his Towne West property in and around the mall.

“There’s quite a bit of parcels that we sold,” he said.

Some stores, such as the Dillard’s outlet and JCPenney already own their own properties.

Check back for more information as it’s available.
