Medical practice to move and expand a clinic for the second time in five years
For the second time since coming to the Wichita market in 2020 with the acquisition of Mid-Kansas Dermatology, the growing Heartland Dermatology is moving one of its clinics to larger, remodeled space.
This time, it’s the firm’s east-side office.
“We’re basically doubling our space,” said CEO Tara Gillespie.
The clinic has been in about 11,000 square feet across from Bradley Fair on North Rock Road and is moving to about 22,000 square feet in the Cypress Medical Park near K-96 and Webb Road.
In addition to the extra space, Gillespie said the clinic will be in “an updated, recently renovated facility as well.”
Previously, Heartland moved its west-side space from 13th and Tyler to the Office Park at Eberly Farm near 21st and 135th streets.
Heartland serves 17 sites, about half of which are full-time clinics. The others are more like satellite clinics with more limited hours.
In Wichita, there are two full-time clinics for medical and surgical dermatology. There’s also Heartland Aesthetica for elective procedures at the Offices at Cranbrook on 21st Street just east of Webb Road.
Gillespie said the expanded east-side space will allow more room for the future to add to the Heartland team.
Also, Heartland has a partnership with St. Louis University to help train residents through the Kansas Access Track residency program, and the extra space will allow more room for that.
“We started that to be able to get a sustainable succession plan for dermatologists in the state of Kansas because that is continuing to be an issue,” Gillespie said.
“This new facility will also be able to accommodate the residents when they come to train with us.”
Christi Royse and Jonathan Weigand of J.P. Weigand & Sons handled the deal for the new space, which opens March 18.
Gillespie said this won’t be the last Heartland expansion for the area. She said the firm is looking to have a presence in smaller markets around Wichita as well.
Look for news on that when it happens.
