The new Boulevard Theatres in Old Town is having a soft opening this weekend, meaning not quite everything is in place yet, but the doors are open.

Boulevard Theatres owners Tyler Cooper and Ryan Blasdel, who opened their first screens in the former Movie Machine at Towne West Square in 2022, along with some silent investors took over the former Warren Old Town.

That’s where Regal Cinemas briefly was before closing in 2023.

Cooper and Blasdel have reopened four theaters and will add a fifth on Christmas Day.

The first three shows are “Wicked,” “Sonic 3” and “Mufasa.”

Once the theater is at full capacity, it will have seven screens.

Via text, Cooper explained that the Old Town theater will have all the concessions that the one at Towne West has, and there will be additional grab-and-go items, such as pizza, pretzel sticks and chicken tenders.

For now, there are no alcoholic beverages, and theater-goers can’t order from their seats as in the past.

“However,” Cooper texted, “we will have news on that soon.”

There will be a rewards program, Boulevard Club, where guests can earn points toward tickets, merchandise and concessions.

“In the very near future we will add two premium membership levels to the Boulevard Club, which will include tickets and other perks with each subscription,” Cooper texted.

He added that he’s hoping to hear from guests and invites them to give feedback to staff members as the theater continues to get going.

Les Padzensky, who used to work for Warren Theatres, is helping get the new Boulevard Theatres open.

“It’s Showtime!” he wrote on Facebook.

“The Old Town Boulevard Theater is now open. I am helping the owners/friend get the food offerings off to a Hollywood start. Bring the whole family, come with friends, or a date night. There is no better time to come back to the movies than the Holidays! . . . See you there!”
