While a new 8-acre Art Garden is in the works outside the Wichita Art Museum, the Museum Store is undergoing some remodeling as well.
“We want this remodel project to really showcase the fabulous items that we have,” says public relations manager Teresa Veazey.
She says there will be “a whole new look, new feel and new products.”
“It will be quite an undertaking, and it will not be the same store that you see here,” Veazey says.
There’s a “ready to remodel sale” starting on Friday and going through Sunday of “deeply discounted” items, though not everything in the shop will be on sale.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Then, starting Monday the store will close for about a month while remodeling takes place.
Spangenberg Phillips Tice Architecture did the design work, and Blake Clotia is doing the renovations.
In the meantime, there will be what Veazey calls a “pop-up store” in the foyer on the first floor.
“It’s our satellite location,” she says. “So as visitors come to the Wichita Art Museum, they can pick up something neat, something fun … to commemorate their visit.”
