Wichitan has what one person wrote was ‘The best Bachelorette date in history!’
As other contestants were stuck going to a prom for their shared dates, Wichita businessman Chock Chapple had the date so far of debut season of “The Golden Bachelorette.”
“The best Bachelorette date in history!” one person wrote on Facebook during the second episode of the ABC show, which also streams on Hulu starting the day after each Wednesday episode airs.
Indeed, it was a storybook date, at least if you’re into Disney stories.
With a note from Bachelorette Joan Vassos that said, “Meet me at the happiest place on earth,” Chapple met her at Disneyland for a much-to-be-envied one-on-one date.
“I feel a little bit bad about the other guys,” Chapple said.
He didn’t seem to mind too much, though, especially as the date went on throughout the day and evening.
In fact, at one point, he declared, “She’s mine today.”
When R2-D2 made an appearance and seemed to be flirting with Vassos, Chapple reiterated: “She’s mine.”
This time, it was Vassos who didn’t seem to mind. It seemed she rather enjoyed his declaration.
They both acknowledged an obvious chemistry.
“After spending some time with her, I’m going to say this could be the one,” Chapple said.
Vassos told Chapple that she saw “a glimmer of a future together.”
“And maybe even a little bit more,” she later said privately into a camera.
“Every minute of this date was really good.”
Chapple donned a tuxedo and Vassos wore what could be called a Cinderella gown for their dinner at 21 Royal at the park.
The two opened up about past loves and loss, and Vassos got teary when talking about her father and how Chapple and his gentlemanly ways reminded her of her dad.
“I don’t necessarily believe in fate, but sometimes it surprises me,” Vassos said.
In a move that will surely get Chapple razzed, he told the camera, “I’ve got a little pitter-patter in my heart right here,” as he tapped his heart. “I feel ecstatic.”
After a day of lots of hugging and hand holding, the two kissed as Disneyland fireworks went off to the strains of Cinderella’s song “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” which says “dreams really do come true.”
