Mennonite Press, a printing company that began as a print shop for Bethel College and the General Conference Mennonite Church in 1902, has sold.

Competitor Valley Print Logistics, formerly Valley Offset Printing, purchased the business for an undisclosed amount.

“We’ve known of them for a long time and have a good relationship with them,” said Steven Rudiger, who owned the business with Roger and Margaret Williams.

The businesses did the same kind of work, sometimes for the same customers.

“They’re best positioned to take on our customers and help them out going forward,” Rudiger said.

He said he and the Williamses wanted to retire and had no family to leave Mennonite Press with.

Valley owner Travis Bryant said it’s “kind of a good fit for both of us.”

Most of the production and sales representatives will move to Valley.

Mennonite Press has almost 20 employees, and Valley has almost 50.

The Mennonite Press building in Newton is now for sale.

Bryant’s parents, Fred and Diana Bryant, and Nancy and the late Les Anderson started Valley in 1988.

In 2019, Bryant purchased the business from his parents, and in 2022, he changed the company’s name to better fit the services it provides today.

With the Mennonite Press purchase, he said, “I just look forward to making new relationships and helping the customers the best way that we can.”
