There’s been an awful lot of digging going on in Riverside, as residents have noticed while weaving around work vehicles for about the last month.

Some people guessed the work might be for new fiber optic lines, but it’s actually upgrades that Kansas Gas Service is making to its pipelines.

Spokeswoman Dawn Tripp said it’s a routine improvement program the utility service has.

The project started in early March and should wrap up by early April.

Customers who have work done on their properties are notified, but other neighbors are not, so that’s resulted in a lot of questions.

Unlike some projects where the city or utilities have to tear out grass or plants and then don’t replace then, Tripp said Kansas Gas Service will restore all properties to their original conditions after work is done.

Anyone with questions or concerns can call 800-794-4780.

Tripp said it’s hard to list all of the areas in Wichita where work will take place because Kansas Gas Service has ongoing improvements around the city. She said anyone with questions is welcome to call.
