Illinois-based Dohrn Transfer Co., which is what’s called a less-than-truckload carrier, has expanded its services to Wichita.

Carriers like this provide shipping services for quantities of freight that don’t necessarily need a full truck.

Dohrn added a physical terminal in Topeka in September and now is operating in Wichita, too.

The company moves pallets, parts and packages for a range of industries, including agriculture, chemicals, paint, hotel supplies, schools and libraries.

“Our customers have been asking Dohrn for direct service into the state of Kansas for years,” said a statement from Heather Dohrn, executive vice president and chief commercial officer.

“Dohrn now has direct service between the majority of Kansas businesses to the full states of Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, and the Minneapolis area.”

Now, people here can use Dohrn to ship elsewhere, too.

A representative for the company, which has 23 terminals and more than 450 trucks, said there will be a lot more next-day services for Wichita now along with high-tech tracking services.
