It looks like a new occupant is coming to the former Warren Old Town theater
It appears that a new occupant is coming to the former Warren Old Town theater and that the new owner likely will return a theater there.
According to a filing that ran in The Eagle this week, Boulevard Theatres has filed an environmental waiver application at 353 N. Mead (although both the street and company name were misspelled when the city made the listing).
Tyler Cooper, who owns Boulevard Theatres with business partner Ryan Blasdel, said he’s not able to comment on the filing.
A representative of EPR Properties, the Kansas City, Mo., company that owns the building, could not immediately be reached for comment on Thursday.
EPR’s Wichita broker, Chad Stafford of Occidental Management, declined to comment.
Boulevard Theatres is the Wichita company that in 2022 reopened a theater where Regal Cinemas had been at Towne West Square.
The theater is on the west side of the mall with five screens, which were perhaps best known as the Movie Machine.
Boulevard offers first-run shows at reduced prices. Concessions are at reduced prices as well, and much of the theater is self serve.
Regal also had been the occupant at the Warren Old Town before closing last year.
The theater, which Wichitan Bill Warren owned before selling his chain to Regal in 2017, opened in Old Town in 2003.
There are seven screens at the theater, which once also had a bar and restaurant in addition to concessions.
Often, an environmental waiver filing is one of the last steps a company takes before closing on the purchase of a property, so it makes sense that more news should be coming soon. We’ll keep you posted.
