An issue in the local antique market scene inspired this new Wichita business
Zac Stetler said he’s noticed a need in the Wichita antiquing community.
“I’ve just been buying and selling antiques for a while now.”
He said he realized there is a wait list for vendors to open at a lot of area antique malls, so he and his wife, Janelle, decided to open Hudson Antique Market.
The 40,000-square-foot space they found at 6401 E. Kellogg Dr., which is the corner of Kellogg and Woodlawn, is the former home of vehicle sales and a dent-repair business.
Hudson Antique Market, which the Stetlers said they named for the Hudson general stores from the early 1900s, is having a soft opening this week while construction is finished. There will be a grand opening Oct. 2.
The booth rental mall charges $3 a square foot for vendors, and there are about half a dozen spots left.
Zac Stetler said the focus will be mostly on antique and vintage items, but there will be a section for crafts and art as well.
There are more than 70 vendors so far.
The Stetlers also plan to offer outdoor markets. That will include flea markets and farmers markets.
“We’re going to be doing those a couple times a month,” Zac Stetler said.
“We have a huge parking lot.”
Look for the first sale sometime in mid-to-late October.
