At long last, Andover is getting this restaurant with an in-demand drive-through
Andover is going to get its first freestanding Starbucks next year.
“We’re going to be starting construction here in two weeks on a new stand-alone Starbucks in Andover,” said developer Hamid Bakhtiari.
The new Starbucks will be on a one-acre lot at 301 S. Andover Road, next to a strip center in which Bakhtiari is a partner. That’s the center where Metro Bistro, Domino’s and Dunkin’ are, among other businesses.
There’s also a small Starbucks within the Dillons Marketplace just down the street.
The new Starbucks will be 2,500 square feet and have a drive-through that will be able to accommodate almost 20 vehicles.
Bakhtiari said drive-through anxiety is a real thing, and he said Starbucks has been “putting a lot of thought into fixing that.”
He said the new Starbucks will have a lot of space between the order menu and pickup window.
“They’ve put a lot of thought and research into those times and flows.”
He said that means customers won’t be stuck on the street waiting to get through the line as happens at some places.
“They’ve really rethought that on their site plans and gone to considerable effort just to make sure they’re kind of reducing the retail anxiety around drive-throughs these days,” Bakhtiari said. “It’s definitely a very sophisticated corporate partner to work with, and it’s exciting to see the innovations.”
There will be interior seating and a patio area as well.
Bakhtiari said he’s looking forward to doing more in Andover. He said the city and Butler County have “some amazing resources for development.”
There’s an approximately 1,300-square-foot space coming open in his strip center by the new Starbucks, Bakhtiari said.
“We just got done doing a new exterior remodel there, too, and it looks super nice.”
