Three Pea adds new division to help with senior relocation

Three Pea: Organize, Stage, Design has added a third pea to its pod, so to speak.

Co-owner Gary Streepy does design and staging work, and co-owner Kirsten Awe runs the consignment part of the business – Pea Pod Consignment Gallery – and does organizing as well.

Now, Awe also has Three Pea Senior Location and Moving Services to help senior citizens downsize and relocate to retirement homes and other facilities.

“I just think there’s a huge need there,” Awe says.

She has gone through training to do the work and says she has some natural abilities that help with the job.

“I’m patient and understanding.”

She says she also has a good eye and the ability to ask the right questions to help seniors know what to keep in their moves.

Awe says she can also help with floor plans, packing, sorting and coordinating moves.

“We had everything there,” she says of Three Pea. “It was just a matter of organizing it and getting a concrete business model to work off of.”

Awe says this kind of service can bring peace of mind during what can be a difficult transition period.

“It’s stressful, and it’s emotional,” she says of seniors moving, often from places where they’ve lived for a long time.

“I think it’s going to be one of those types of businesses that gets more and more popular.”
