Tulsa-based QuikTrip began the first steps of a scrape-and-build process for a new QuikTrip at Douglas and Rock Road.

“Of course, we love that location,” said spokeswoman Aisha Jefferson-Smith.

On Monday, the company began changing out gas pumps.

Jefferson-Smith said three of the store’s five dispensers were back in use by Wednesday morning, and the other two were expected to be later in the day.

Around July, the store will temporarily close for demolition, and it should be rebuilt by late this year.

Jefferson-Smith said the new design will have a better traffic flow and be better all around for customers.

“That’s all that is.”
