Rodney Steven II and his Genesis Health Clubs have made another Kansas City acquisition, but this one isn’t a gym.

They bought Volleyball Beach, a complex with 14 volleyball courts and a bar and grill.

“Whether it’s health clubs, aquatics, or volleyball, it’s all about programming,” Steven said in a news release.

Eight of the sand courts convert to indoor courts for year-round use, including competitive and recreational leagues and tournaments.

Volleyball Beach is at 13105 Holmes Road in Kansas City, Mo., which is just south of downtown Kansas City.

Genesis has more than 20 clubs in greater Kansas City.

That includes a 70,000-square-foot complex it is building in the north Kansas City area, which also includes volleyball, a gym, pools and another bar and grill.

Steven isn’t sharing more details just yet, but the release said he has more plans in that area.

He said to “expect to see more sports-related entertainment and exciting health and fitness news soon. We’re going to be growing in Kansas City for a long time to come.”
