Another Blush business is opening in Wichita, but this one isn’t a bookstore

Wichita’s second Blush business in as many months is opening, but this one isn’t a bookstore. It’s a gym.

Blush Bookstore opened at the Garage at Cleveland Corner in late March, and now Blush Boot Camp — no affiliation — is opening early next month at the Shops at Tallgrass near 21st and Rock Road.

“It’s tailored to women for women,” said Kimberly Macht, who is opening the franchise with her husband, J.D.

“We’re all really big on empowering each other.”

She goes to the Blush Boot Camp in Blue Springs, Mo., near where she lives in Independence.

The Kansas City-based franchise already has a number of sites in that area.

The Machts have the Wichita franchise license and hope to eventually add a Blush on the west side.

Although Kimberly Macht was the one going to Blush and enjoying it, it was her husband who suggested they become franchisees after visiting on a spouse’s night.

“I was like, man, this is pretty awesome,” J.D. Macht said.

The franchise offers daily boot camp-style sessions.

“Each day, we work on a different part of the body,” Kimberly Macht said.

She said the sessions rotate on a schedule.

“It’s the same workout for all sessions that day, and then the next day it’s a different workout.”

The sessions are 50 minutes.

Kimberly Macht said they’ve been life-changing for her.

“Going into a gym sometimes literally terrifies me. . . . Going into a weight room as a woman, it’s so hard.”

She said sometimes men make fun of women for using lighter weights. Sometimes, women are propositioned.

“We don’t have to worry about that,” Macht said of Blush.

In addition to having fun and making friends at Blush, she said the gym has “helped my mental health.”

Blush is opening where Title Boxing Club used to be.

Kimberly Macht said it’s the perfect layout since it used to be a gym, and J.D. Macht said the area around the Shops at Tallgrass is great, too.

Craig Simon of Landmark Commercial Real Estate and Hunter LaMunyon of Lange Real Estate handled the deal.

The Machts are currently having a pre-sale with 40% off of memberships, which are $103 a month for a six-month membership and $90 a month for a 12-month membership with the discount.

Look for the first Blush to open around June 3.
