Rodney Steven II and Genesis Health Clubs acquire clubs in another new market
As Genesis Health Clubs owner Rodney Steven II continues his health club buying spree across the middle part of the United States, he acquired two more clubs on Tuesday, this time in Louisville, Ky.
“It’s the natural progression from where we’re going,” he said.
Kentucky makes the eighth state Genesis is now in, along with Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa and Florida.
Steven said he continues to work on other deals, and they’re the kind that take a long time. When some of those deals are finalized, he said, the continuity of the geography will make more sense.
This week’s acquisition of the Louisville Tennis Club and the Blairwood Tennis, Swim & Fitness Club make the 62nd and 63rd Genesis clubs.
Steven said they have long, rich histories of tennis and also have some of the most successful swim programs he’s ever seen, along with a lot of family outdoor aquatics features.
Coming out of the pandemic, Steven said more people seem to be exercising and finding ways to stay healthy than ever before.
“I’m more exited about fitness than I ever have been,” he said “The craze is so big.”
Health and fitness are why he keeps expanding, Steven said.
“If I’m going to invest in anything, I’m going to invest in what I know best.”
