In 2017, Trajectory RCS owner Derrick Idbeis moved his medical coding and billing business to the Offices at Cranbrook just east of 21st and Webb Road, and he’s expanded in that space three times.

Now, Idbeis is expanding the firm again, this time to the Commerce Street Art District with space he purchased at 414 and 416 S. Commerce.

“It just felt like the right option for us,” he said of the firm having its own building.

He pointedly decided it should be downtown.

“There’s just so much cool stuff happening downtown,” Idbeis said. “I really just wanted to support Wichita by putting another local business downtown and making sure we keep Wichita’s economy strong by keeping our money local.”

Sandbar Trading had been at 414 S. Commerce and now is moving to the east side.

The other address had been shared space among a few offices, and there apartments upstairs, which will remain.

Idbeis is converting the main floor for his office, which includes about 85 employees, half of whom will work from there.

Though he’s updating the space, Idbeis said he will keep the building’s historic feel “and hopefully keep the feeling and the local artist vibe that’s down there.”

“I absolutely love the brick and the exposed wood.”

Idbeis said there’s room for Trajectory, which will move during the first quarter of next year, to grow by at least 50%.

“We’re super excited to be part of downtown. It’s an amazing space.”
