This new showroom is as sleek as an Apple store, but it’s not selling electronics

Pella Windows & Doors of Kansas is having a ribbon cutting Wednesday for its new headquarters, which is in part of a warehouse at 4055 N. Toben, across from a sister warehouse where Amazon is near 37th and Webb Road.

“We’ve got a nicely refreshed showroom,” said president Jim Knight.

In addition to being a better layout for operations, he said the product demonstration area is like an Apple store, with clean, sleek lines “so it just displays the product a lot nicer.”

“It gives the employees and our customers a lift. . . . It’s crisp and clean and inviting.”

Though Wichita has always been a top market for the company, the company’s headquarters has been in other cities through the years.

When John Noel purchased the company about seven years ago, he moved the headquarters here. It has been in about 43,000 square feet near Central and Washington downtown.

With growth of the business — last year the number of employees grew from 45 to 70 people — and logistics at the facility, Knight said, “We were starting to outgrow it.”

The new space is 56,000 square feet.

Pella is known primarily for its residential business, but Knight said its products translate well to commercial projects, such as apartments and senior living.

Though the business is an authorized distributor for Pella in Kansas, Knight said Pella Windows & Doors of Kansas is a local company that is committed to Wichita, which is part of what’s behind the ribbon cutting ceremony.

“We want to be involved with the community.”
