When Maddie Brown celebrates Grate Fill’s first anniversary of being in business on Saturday, she’s going to do it in new space.

Brown opened her “all natural, eco-friendly refill shop,” which sells nontoxic household cleaners and bath and body supplies, in the Douglas Design District at 1807 E. Douglas.

Her last three days in that space will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Brown is returning to Bradley Fair at 21st and Rock Road where she had a successful pop-up store over the holidays.

“It was a really fun experience,” she said of meeting a lot of new customers. “People were really excited about the concept, which was fun.”

Brown is opening another pop-up at Bradley Fair, though she said, “I think we’ll be here for the foreseeable future.”

Grate Fill will open in the former Little Drawer space next to Sephora on Saturday.

At Grate Fill, customers can bring in their own bottles, which they need to weigh at home first, or buy glass bottles in the store to fill from bulk supplies. In addition to the refill products, Grate Fill also sells bamboo straws, reusable bags and plantable cards.

The idea is everything is zero waste.

The store also sells locally made items, including pottery, handmade bows from vintage fabrics, handmade jewelry and paintings.

Brown said she likes the idea of putting all her focus on only one store.

She calls the foot traffic at Bradley Fair an “awesome opportunity and something that we didn’t have necessarily downtown.”
