Dance franchise relaunches in Wichita after a slow start due to the pandemic
Opening a business right before a pandemic isn’t exactly ideal timing, which is why Tracy Genheimer and Jensen Holmes are sort of relaunching their Tippi Toes Dance Wichita.
“We didn’t get too much time to get things moving because COVID hit,” Genheimer said. “We go out into the community to have our classes.”
Tippi Toes is a national franchise that takes dance classes to schools, day cares and after-school gatherings, so some of that was put on hold due to the pandemic.
Now the Oklahoma City-based Genheimer and Holmes are trying to re-establish the business with their Wichita team.
“Our main mission is to instill a love of dance in children,” Genheimer said.
She said it’s about helping them learn and develop self confidence and healthy living habits.
Classes, which are for children 18 months to age 12, meet once a week for 45 minutes. There’s an annual registration fee of $40, then it costs $55 a month.
Children who are 18 months to about 6 or 7 can learn ballet, jazz and creative movement.
For children ages 7 to 12, there’s also hip hop and jazz.
Genheimer and Holmes also own Tippi franchises in Oklahoma City and Dallas. There are about 35 of the franchises nationally.
