New massage and facial spa opens on west side; east-side site a future possibility

Back issues led Terri Geist to the Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa in Fort Worth, and now she and her husband, David, have opened one in Wichita at NewMarket North next to HomeGrown on North Maize Road.

Wichitans David and Terri Geist were transferred to Fort Worth for David Geist’s job advising pilots on weather conditions when Terri Geist developed back issues and discovered the Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa franchise.

“I found that with regular massages that I was actually going to the chiropractor less,” she said. “When you get regular massages, you get more in touch with your body.”

David Geist started going as well, and when he and his wife decided to move back to Wichita, he said his Hand & Stone therapist suggested they open their own massage franchise.

They now have a Hand & Stone franchise in NewMarket North at 2835 N. Maize Road next to HomeGrown.

“I wanted a place that is going to be viable in 10 years from now,” David Geist said. “This is a real hotbed of Wichita.”

In about three years, the Geists said they’d like to add a second site on the east side.

The coronavirus kept them from opening in March as they planned mostly because they couldn’t get the items they needed for massages.

“Everything kind of got held up in shipping,” David Geist said.

There’s a member rate of $59.95 for a basic massage or facial once a month. Customers can come more than once a month and pay the same rate for more services.

Members also can buy gift cards at their member rate.

There are upgrades they can add as well, such as a hot stone massage or a Himalayan salt stone massage that helps with healing and better sleep.

There also are a variety of facials, including chemical peels, microdermabrasion and LED light therapy.

There also are products for sale, including something called NuFace, which Terri Geist said is “like a little mini face lift.”

“It is literally instant results.”

For nonmembers, services are $99.95 each.

The model for the franchise is offering a luxurious experience at an affordable price.

Terri Geist said it’s like a massage you might have on vacation.

“We’re trying to offer that atmosphere at our location.”
