DJS2 Hair and Trove Total Body Studio to share new space

Danny Jimenez is planning to once again have his own salon.

Jimenez opened Danny Jimenez Salon at the Village at Greenwich in 2008, but he closed it after four years.

“I think I just hit that location out there a little too early,” he says of the area’s popularity.

Jimenez has been working at Tangled Up Salon but is preparing to open DJS2 Hair at 6130 E. Central near Central and Woodlawn later this month.

The new space will be 1,200 square feet. Janelle Robertson of Trove Total Body Studio will share some of the space.

“That’s a big deal,” Jimenez says. “She’s pretty prominent in the … beauty business in Wichita.”

Robertson, who has been in the business for almost 30 years, currently is in the Renfro downtown next to Old Mill Tasty Shop.

She says she and Jimenez have been talking on and off about working in the same space.

“At this point, the timing was right,” she says. “I will offer all of the same spa services.”

That includes facials, massage therapy, manicures, pedicures and body wraps.

Robertson says she and Jimenez have a lot of the same clientele.

“Convenience is certainly a factor,” she says.

Robertson says her business has done well where it is.

“I love downtown.”

Robertson says she likes the Central and Woodlawn area in part because it’s a commercial area where the Renfro is a mixed-use building with a number of apartments.

Look for more information about the new space closer to the time it opens later this summer.
