QuikTrip reopens 21st and Arkansas store to bustling business
QuikTrip quietly reopened its store at 21st and Arkansas at 5 a.m. Tuesday.
The Tulsa-based chain of convenience stores closed that store on June 3 ahead of potential protests and other activity planned for the evening.
That followed a looting incident on June 2 during protests over the death of George Floyd, a Minnesota man who died after being pinned to the ground with a police officer’s knee on his neck for several minutes.
The 21st and Arkansas intersection also had been the site of a relatively peaceful gathering May 31 that escalated into a more serious situation late June 1 and into the following day.
In a Tuesday text, QuikTrip spokesman Mike Thornbrugh said the chain always errs “on the side of caution.”
“The store is now open and we really appreciate all the kind words and support we received from our customers.”
Tuesday morning, the store was bustling with suppliers restocking the store and many customers already shopping there again.
