Another new Wichita grocery store to open this spring
As the popularity of Aldi stores has increased in Wichita, so has the German company’s attention to Wichita.
Throughout the last year or so, the grocery chain remodeled its Wichita stores.
Now, the company is adding a new store at Eastgate Plaza at Kellogg and Rock Road. This will make the sixth Wichita-area Aldi store.
For months, no one with the chain would confirm the store was coming. Now, there’s a construction fence near the former Toys R Us space, and the company issued a two-sentence statement.
“We are excited to confirm we plan to open our new Wichita store by spring 2020,” said the statement, which was attributed to Mark Bersted, Olathe division vice president. “We will reach out closer to the Grand Opening with more specific details.”
The store is taking about 22,000 square feet of the former 45,000-square-foot Toys R Us space.
Aldi is known for a lot of things, such as high-end food items at low-cost prices. There are a lot of European products as well, such as German chocolate.
