There are construction signs behind the Sonic on Broadway, but is there new construction?

Construction signs surrounding a property are usually a good indication that something new is coming.

And since Conco Construction signs are surrounding the property immediately to the south of the Sonic near Kellogg and Broadway, it made some wonder if there might soon be a new addition to restaurant row.

Alas, Conco isn’t actually building anything there. The company is using the property to store material and equipment it is using up the street where Fidelity Bank is expanding.

“It’s a tight area,” says project manager Eric Fischer.

Conco already is renting street and sidewalk space from the city but still needed more room for storage. It’s leasing the land south of Sonic, which Fischer says means no new food option or anything else is coming there.

“Sorry to say.”
