Sue Jones says seven years is enough for her Robinson’s on State in Augusta.

“I had to make a hard decision,” she says. “There just hasn’t been enough business.”

Jones will start a closing sale on Tuesday that she hopes to wrap up by January. It will include all inventory and fixtures.

“Retail’s tough. Retail’s awful, and it’s really bad in Augusta,” Jones says. “It’s time to move on and do something different, and that’s what we’re going to do.”

Jones says she’ll now focus solely on her design business.

“I will continue to operate Fairchild Interiors out of a different location.”

The business, which had been at the Waterfront at one time, won’t be returning to Wichita. But there is a Wichita connection with where it’s going. Look for news on that soon.
