Why are there no drinks at Finns Tavern?

As Final Friday revelers walked from studio to studio along Commerce Street last week, several kept stopping at Finns Tavern in a futile effort to get a drink.

Finn Lofts owner David Farha used part of the building’s space for a pop-up bar during the NCAA Tournament. He used some old wood from the 1920s former broom factory to make the sign.

“We just haven’t had a chance to take that sign down.”

The space is for lease, but Farha says he’s not looking for a permanent tavern.

“I have no desire to be in the bar business. . . . Our preference is to have something with some food service.”

He says he doesn’t mind if that includes alcoholic drinks as long as they’re not the main focus.

NAI Martens broker Nathan Farha, a distant relative of David Farha, is handling leasing at the space.

David Farha says there have been some talks with some coffeehouse-type businesses, but there’s no deal yet.
