The new Kung Fu Tea opens Thursday in the Cherry Creek Shopping Center at the southwest corner of Harry and Rock Road.

General manager Milo Pham, who put the store together for a local investor who wants to remain anonymous, says the franchise will feature boba tea.

“I’ve just been a fan of boba,” she says. “It got me through college.”

The tea is also known as bubble tea and is made with tapioca pearls.

Pham calls it “just a fun thing to drink.”

She’s trying to make the shop lively, too, so young people will want to come and hang out there.

“We just try to make it a pretty fun place.”

Kung Fu Tea also sells other drinks, including coffee.

There are about 200 of the franchises nationally and more internationally.

Austin Swisher of J.P. Weigand & Sons handled the Cherry Creek deal.

Pham says there’s a possibility more Kung Fu Teas could open in the Wichita area.

“We’ll see how it goes.”
