One more update about plans near Kellogg and 135th Street

Perfection Builders is building Auburn Lakes and the Courtyards at Auburn Lakes just north of these former stables along 135th Street a few blocks north of Kellogg. The company also built a berm between its development and where a commercial development eventually will be built to its south. It’s also knocking down the stables for the commercial property owner.

To pick up where we left off last week, here’s one more update on what’s in the works near Kellogg and 135th Street.

Have You Heard? already reported on how Jim Edgington has filed to rezone almost 10 acres north of the Evangel Presbyterian Church near the northwest corner of the intersection to build duplexes in addition to three single-family homes.

Also, across the street and just north of there, we updated how Perfection Builders is doing another one of its Epcon communities, the Courtyards at Auburn Lakes, for empty nesters and other older adults looking for easy-access homes that don’t require maintenance.

There will be 134 homes, five lakes, lots of trees and, unusually, a rolling terrain. There also will be 13 single-family lots known as Auburn Lakes on the north side of the property.

Perfection Builders co-owner Scott Lehner say’s it’s “just a beautiful piece of property.”

One lot has a particularly special feature, he says.

“It has its own private island in the lake. We think it’s cool.”

Lehner says it’s big enough for a pool or gazebo or any kind of outdoor entertainment facility.

Perfection Builders is doing dirt work now, and the property will be ready for homes to be built in six months.

Which brings us to the final bit of news. Perfection Builders also built a berm on the south end of the property that will separate the development from a planned commercial development that another company will build later.

“That’s probably down the road a few years,” Lehner says.

In the meantime, Perfection Builders is demolishing some former stables on the future commercial site, in part for the other builder and in part so they won’t detract from all the new housing at Auburn Lakes.
